eScrip - Money for our Schools

Currently, only 150 out of 644 district families are signed up to contribute FREE money to our schools. Our estimated income from 138 families is—$1,000 per month.  Just imagine what we can bring in if ALL families were registered. This is a painless way to support enrichment in our schools!

Please register your Safeway card with eScrip, http://www.escrip.com/index.jsp, and list SEF (137708308) as the beneficiary.  Safeway donates up to 4% of your purchases to our schools, depending upon how much you spend! If you use your phone number and don’t know your club card number, call (877) 723-3929 to find out your number.

If you register your credit card with eScrip, SEF also gets a percentage of your purchases every time the card is used at one of almost 100 merchants—from Whole Foods to Macys to Big O Tires—the donations to our schools can really add up.

For a complete list of merchants, go to http://www.escrip.com/merchants/search.  Visit the eScrip website and sign up today.

Community Smart Card - Money for our Schools
Just like eScrip, the Community Smart card is another fundraiser for our schools that costs you nothing. When you use the Community Smart card with local merchants, they donate a percentage of the purchase to SEF. For example, Freeman Toyota/Lexus will donate 5% of what you spend on service, and Andy’s Produce donates 5% of your purchase ($25 minimum purchase).

To sign up and obtain a complete list of participating merchants, go to www.communitysmart.com.  Click the Sign Up tab at the top of the page, then choose Get a Community Card. When signing up, designate either Park Side, Pine Crest, Brook Haven or Sebastopol Educational Foundation to benefit from your card's use.

  About Us
The Sebastopol Educational Foundation (SEF) is a non-profit fund-raising organization associated with the Sebastopol Union School District that distributes money to the schools in two ways:
  • through a budget process - working closely with school principals, elective teachers and the Superintendent, SEF defines a budget to support enrichment programs.
  • through grants.  Historically, SEF has distributed money through grants made available primarily to teachers and principals.

TFT:  From 2003 through 2005, SEF expanded its efforts through support of the Tri-School Fundraising Team (TFT), a subcommittee of SEF.  Beginning with the 2005-2006 school year, TFT merged back into the SEF organization, and remaining TFT members are on the SEF Board.

  History
In the summer of 1984 a group of parents and one teacher from Sebastopol started meeting to investigate the methods of establishing a private and independent educational foundation for Sebastopol Union Schools.  This effort was in response to the continual shortage of money in the district and its impact on the quality of education in our local schools.

By the end of August, a group of concerned citizens had agreed to serve as a Board of Directors.  Work was then begun on Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation for a non-profit tax-exempt corporation.  The Tri-School PTA gave the Board of Directors $300.00 in the form of a grant to assist in the payment of fees and other startup costs.  By March of 1985, having cleared all legal hurdles, the Secretary of State and the Franchise Tax Board granted the Sebastopol Educational Foundation non-profit tax-exempt status.
